Only four months to the end of the World War I, the British army executed 14 Iranian officers for no reason. Iran had declared neutrality before the war but the British and Russians invaded the country. In different parts of Iran, patriots had been naturally fighting against the occupying forces but they were not even treated as prisoners of war. The Europeans used to consider themselves as the masters of the world exploiting domestic resources using their military superiority. In the book Late Victorian Holocausts, the story of famines that killed between 12 and 29 million Indians between 1876-1878 is told. Meanwhile the imperial government launched a militarized campaign to collect tax accumulated during the drought. The money was used to fund war in Afghanistan.
